Interim Payment

Location on ribbon: Tab DVD Cons → Group QS

Command ID: btnPaymentValuation

License required

This command needs an active DVDAddin account (Standard or PRO). During the Trial period it is fully available.

What it does

The command turns an existing bill of quantities into an interim-payment valuation table: period value = unit price × contract quantity × % complete, plus cumulative and remaining columns, a totals row and ready-made borders.

This is the monthly grind for a QS or site engineer. Instead of copying the BoQ, retyping formulas and drawing borders, you simply map which column is which and the add-in builds a complete payment sheet while leaving the original BoQ untouched.

How to use

  1. Select the BoQ range to be valued. Without a selection the add-in says "Select the BoQ range in the sheet before creating the payment table" and stops.
  2. Click DVD Cons → QS → Interim Payment.
  3. The Interim payment table window opens and reports how many rows are selected. Map the columns using column letters (B, E…):
    • Item column (required) — default B
    • Unit column (optional) — default D
    • Contract qty column (required) — default E
    • Unit price column (required) — default F
    • % complete column (required)
    • Prior cumulative (optional)
  4. Choose what % complete is: Cumulative (total to date) or This period only.
  5. Tick First selected row is a header (skip it) if your selection includes the header row.
  6. Enter the Period (default "Period 1") and the Date (default today).
  7. Click Create. If a required column is missing, a red message appears in the window and it stays open.
  8. The add-in generates a new sheet with the bordered payment table and a totals row.

Example

A workers' housing superstructure BoQ, selection A4:H60, with column B = item, D = unit, E = contract qty, F = unit price, G = cumulative % complete, H = prior cumulative value.

Before (BoQ)After (payment sheet)
Column concrete — m3 — 120 — 1,850,000 — 60%Cumulative 133,200,000; less prior 88,800,000 → this period 44,400,000; remaining 88,800,000
Blockwork 200 — m2 — 850 — 265,000 — 40%Cumulative 90,100,000; period value from the delta; remaining computed automatically

Map Item = B, Unit = D, Qty = E, Unit price = F, % complete = G, Prior cumulative = H, mode Cumulative, Period = "Period 3", Date = 22/08/2026, then click Create.

Notes

  • The table is a drafting aid — check it against the contract's payment forms and current regulations before submitting.
  • You must select the BoQ range before clicking; the command does not auto-detect the table.
  • Columns are given as sheet column letters (B, E, AA…), unlike AI Construction Estimate which counts from the first selected column.
  • Picking the wrong % mode (cumulative vs this period) makes the period value completely wrong — check the totals row before issuing.
  • Output goes to a new sheet; the source BoQ is not modified, but the new sheet cannot be undone with Ctrl+Z (delete the sheet instead).
