Sticky Note
Ribbon location: Tab DVD Addin → Group Graphics → the arrow next to Revision Cloud
Command ID: btnNoteSticky
What it does
Like Text Note, but the box has a yellow fill and black text, like a sticky note — easy to spot in a table of figures or on a plan picture, like the Note tool of Read PDF. The border follows the line colour; font and text size follow Cloud Options….
How to use
- Go to DVD Addin → Graphics → the arrow under Revision Cloud → Sticky Note.
- Click where the note goes (or drag a frame across, at least about 24 pt, to set its width).
- Type, press Enter (Shift+Enter adds a line, Esc cancels).
- Add another note, or press Esc to exit.

Illustrated walkthrough
Step 1. On the ribbon, open the DVD Addin tab → Graphics group → open Revision Cloud → choose Sticky Note.

Step 2. Click where the note goes, next to the Gantt bar of the level-3 slab concreting (or drag a frame of about 24 pt or more to set the width). Type Awaiting method statement approval and press Enter; Shift+Enter adds a line, Esc cancels. Add another note elsewhere, or press Esc to finish.
Step 3. The sticky note — yellow fill, black text, border in the line colour (1) — stands out on the sheet and prints too; it covers the cells beneath, so drag it to a blank area if you need to see them. The status bar reports how many notes were added (2).

Keys in the drawing layer
| Key | Effect |
|---|---|
M / T / N / L | Switch to Arrow / Text Note / Sticky Note / Callout |
R / P, Tab | Back to rectangle / polygon cloud; Tab cycles through all tools |
[ ] (or − =) | Text size; with the Arrow tool: arrowhead size |
1–6 | Colour (red, blue, green, orange, purple, black) |
| Wheel / Ctrl+wheel | Scroll / zoom while drawing (only scroll while typing) |
| Ctrl+Z | Remove the last shape drawn in this session |
| Esc | Discard the shape in progress; Esc again (or Enter, right-click — when not typing) to exit |
While typing: Enter finishes, Shift+Enter adds a line, Esc cancels; clicking elsewhere also finishes (that click only ends the typing; it does not place a new note). The keys above only apply when you are not typing — Vietnamese input (Telex, VNI) works normally.
Example
Before sending the schedule to the site manager you want to flag "Waiting for method statement approval" next to the level-3 slab pour: choose Sticky Note, click next to the Gantt bar, type and press Enter. The yellow note stands out on the sheet and still shows when printed.
Notes
- The yellow fill hides the cells underneath — drag the note to an empty spot if you need to see the figures behind it.
- Colour and line weight are shared with clouds; font, text size and arrowhead size are set in Cloud Options… (changes made with keys in the drawing layer are remembered).
- The result is a real Excel shape (text box, line, group), so it can be edited, moved, printed and exported to PDF like any shape; by default it moves with cells but does not resize (change this with Clouds and notes resize with cells in Cloud Options…).
- Shapes created by the command cannot be undone with Excel's Ctrl+Z — inside the drawing layer use the command's own Ctrl+Z; after exiting, select and press Delete.
- Page Layout view is not supported; on a sheet that protects drawing objects the command refuses.
