Check for updates

Open Excel → tab DVD Addin → group About → open the Help menu (DVD icon) → Check Update.

The window asks the update server (Internet needed) and shows Current version and Server under its title:

• A newer version exists → the middle box names the new version with a short list of changes, and Download opens the browser to download the new DVDAddin.rar. Close dismisses the window.
• You are on the latest → the middle box says so.

Download → extract → save your work and close Excel → run the new installer: it installs over the existing folder and keeps your settings and licence.

The add-in does not check automatically when Excel starts — run this command from time to time. Download Tool (same Help menu) downloads the latest DVDAddin.rar directly.

Uninstall

Method 1 — Via Windows Settings (recommended)

1. Open Settings → Apps → Installed apps (Windows 10/11).
2. Find DVDAddin Excel.
3. Click the three dots → Uninstall → the uninstaller asks again → Yes.

Method 2 — Via Control Panel (legacy)

1. Open Control Panel → Programs → Programs and Features.
2. Find DVDAddin Excel in the list.
3. Right-click → Uninstall.

Method 3 — From the Start menu

Start menu → DVDAddin Excel folder → Uninstall DVDAddin Excel.

Uninstall deletes the whole C:\DVDAddin folder

The uninstaller removes the entire install folder (including files you put there yourself) and unregisters the add-in from Excel. Do not keep your own files in C:\DVDAddin.

What remains after uninstall

Uninstall does NOT delete:

• Settings in registry: HKCU\Software\DVD\DVDAddin\* (API keys, Preferences, Translate language, Gantt config, License token).
• Local license: %LocalAppData%\DVDAddin\license.dat.
• Offline grace cache: registry value LastLicensedAtUtc.

Reason: if you reinstall later, settings + license are auto-recognized — you don't need to re-enter API keys, re-login license, etc.

Want a complete clean (clean slate)

Open Registry Editor (regedit), delete the key:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\DVD\DVDAddin

Delete the folder:

%LocalAppData%\DVDAddin

Careful

After this delete, you must re-login your license + re-enter all API keys (Gemini, OpenAI, Groq, Cerebras). Only do this when truly resetting (e.g. before selling the machine).

Re-install

If the addin has an unidentified error:

1. Uninstall (Settings → Apps → Uninstall).
2. Restart your machine (ensures .xll file isn't held).
3. Install with the latest installer.

Settings + license are preserved (no re-login needed).
